Re: Demolition & Asbestos Removal, Inc. (DARI)
Letter of Recommendation
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to recommend Demolition & Asbestos Removal, Inc. (DARI) who Barnhill/Balfour
Beatty/Metcon – NC Education, A Joint Venture (BBM-JV) subcontracted to perform the abatement and demolition scope of work for the North Carolina Education Campus project. The North Carolina Education Campus project consisted of the removal of 168,000 sq ft of interior strip-out,asbestos-sprayed fireproofing, and floor tile removal throughout the building from the basement floor to the 5th floor. DARI subcontracted D.H. Griffin Wrecking to demolish and dispose of the building structure.
Under the leadership of James London, the NC Eastern Regional Manager for DARI, the project was managed with exceptional expertise, an impressive attention to safety and continued assurance that the schedule dates were met. His operational strategies and logistics were instrumental in coordinating a very large crew working in multiple locations. The project, with its numerous variables and strict time constraints, demanded constant attention.
DARI’s commitment to safety and quality was evident in their strict adherence to all compliance
requirements set by NCDHHS, OSHA, and BBM-JV standards throughout the project. Adrian
Garcia, the lead Supervisor, Glenn Collins, the Project Manager, and all crew members of DARI,
demonstrated professionalism and dedication, reflecting great credit upon themselves for their
excellent work.
I sincerely believe that Demolition & Asbestos Removal, Inc.’s vast experience with the project’s scope of work was an integral part of the project, assisting in keeping with BBM-JV’s timeline to proceed with construction of the new building currently in progress.
I am confident that their skills and dedication will exceed your expectations.

I am more than pleased to offer my recommendation to James London
I have had the opportunity to work with James at the USCH Savannah Tomochichi project located in Savannah, Georgia. The four-story 130,000 sq. ft., originally built in 1899 and added to in 1930, is undergoing complete renovation and alteration to bring the Federal Courthouse up to modern and security standards.
During the initial start of the demolition and abatement phase of the project, a partial floor collapse in the southeast section of the 3rd floor was experienced. DARI was brought on board toperform the recovery of the collapse and subsequent hazardous material dust cloud that engulfed the building.
James London’s experience was evident and proved incalculable from the start. His dedication to safety, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate and sequence his forces were critical to completing the recovery efforts in a timely but most importantly safe execution.
Due to James London’s leadership, his team was able to overcome numerous obstacles and opportunities while being under the watchful eye of the Savannah Fire Department and bringing the building back to the point of normal operating procedures. The team is extremely grateful for James London’s contributions to the USCH Savannah Tomochichi Project.
Sincerely,
Brian G. O’Shea

On behalf of the Mead Corporation, I would like to both thank you and compliment you for the work that your company recently completed on our Chattanooga Coke . Plant Project.
Mead considers the Chattanooga Coke Plant project a success. But it was through the diligent ·and dedicated efforts of your employees, and employees from the other Griffin family of companies, that we were able to achieve our goals. I would like to acknowledge Chris Walker, Joe Knowles, and Larry Hurt for their work in supervising this complex project. It is a tribute to your team that we were able to perform approximately 35,000 man-hours of work without injury, complete the project on schedule, and accomplish this with labor that had little, if any, experience.
Happy Holidays!!!

Subject: [EXTERNAL] RPMP – “The Good”
Every other month we have a Superintendent meeting. We feed the guys lunch, do some safety training, discuss lessons learned, let them know about the happenings at the office, and of course talk about our subs
At the end we do a section we call “the good, the bad, and the ugly”. This gives us vital feedback on how subcontractors are performing in the field that those of us in the office may not be aware of. I wanted to let you know that your name came up in our meeting today as one of “the goods”! Some demo companies have a wreck<-it-Ralph approach, but yours is thoughtful and considerate (not two words usually associated with tearing shit up). The simple things like misting water during dusty demolition and constantly sweeping up seem so minor, and yet they prevent so much mess. You are not only focused on removing whatever needs to be removed, but you always leave the space better. Having this as part of your company philosophy allows our Superintendents to focus on other aspects of the project and prepare for what’s next. Our clients have noticed too! Andmore’s dock staff get excited when you show up, because they know that bay isn’t going to be full of trash when you leave (it will actually be cleaner than when you pulled up – freshly washed if you hit a sprinkler head too! (0 ). We value our relationship with DARI and so I wanted to send you this note to let you know it goes from top to “bottom”… you guys are definitely the good ones!
Hope you have a great weekend,

James,
It has been a pleasure working with you for the last 30 years and times have passed by, and we have not realized that we were associated that long with a variety of projects. I remember when first project was started at Wake County and we went through many ups and downs during the project in your first courthouse project. You have made the Owner (project managers of Wake County Design and Construction) and they have found loopholes that all demolition can be contracted out without going through the bidding process. Project Managers, Tim Barbour, David Rutherford and Patrick McHugh, had no complaints about what you have done for them. That is a credit to your leadership and involvement and assignment of your project supervisors and workers for each project.
There are many asbestos abatement, mold remediation and other projects for UST removal that we have done together with the least number of hurdles. The results to the many projects have always been in the favor of the clients. I count on the projects that I have done with you and werecompleted on time or ahead of schedule. I had the best of my association professionally with youand hold you in the highest regard
Sincerely.
